Auckland Notes T 3.15 Mrs. Leslie Crane will be heard in a talk on "The Beauty of Mind and Body in Relation to Diet." At 7.40 p.m. Mr, N. M. Richmond, M.A., Director of the W.H.A., will give a talk on "Art in Everyday Life. " Mr. A. B. Thompson, baritone, who as an artistic singer of classical songs has made himself so popular with listeners, will be heard during the evening. He has included among his numbers two songs by Brahms, "Sunday," and "Serenade." Reg. Morgan and his orchestra will supply the instrumental portion of the programme, and will also provide the dance music. This evening introduces a "new series to 1YA ,listeners-a sonata for piano and violin-a type of work which is very seldom heard. ‘The two artists engaged for this work are Miss Maida Hooker (pianiste) and Mr. Haydn Murray (violinist), both of whom are in the front rank of instrumentalists in Auckland. They have selected "Sonata Op. 8" by Grieg. Between the movements of the sonata Miss Berta Carr, mezzo-soprano, will be heard in a bracket of three classical solos. . From As the schools are in recess, the session conducted at 2YA from 2 to 3 p.m. by the Department of Hduca tion will be mainly talks t6 parents. At 3.15 Mrs. T. W. Lewis will give another of her interesting talks on "Wabries and Fashions." A lecturette entitled "or the Man on the Land" will be given by a representative of the Agricultural Department at 7.40.

3 The evening programme should prove yery acceptable. ~The Salon Orchestra will play the overture "Maid ofthe East," the waltz "Magic of Love," a selection "Nautical Scenes," a bell solo with orchestral. ‘accompaniment, "Cloches de St. Malo," a novelty suite, "Dolls’ House," and the latest dance novelties. A feature of the evening will be the one-act comedy entitled "Fortune Favours Fools" (by Overton), arranged and produced by Mr. Norman Aitken, Comedy is the keynote of the play, and with My. Norman Aitken as ‘Enery ’Erbert ’Iggins, should provide a very amusing and interesting half hour. Also on this programme will be Mr. Sydney Francis Hoben, who will be heard in a piano: recital, with introduetory remarks. His programme inelaides "Hark! Hark! the Lark" (by Sehubert-Liszt), ‘"Barcarolle," from "Tales of Hoffman," and "Turkey in the Straw" (by Guion). Mr. Richard | . Maunder, lyric tenor, who has a voice most- suitable for broadcasting, will again delight listeners.
4YA Notes THE Dunedin ‘Tramsays Band, under Mr. Chas. T. Morgan, will present & programme this evening. The numbers will include Toselli’s "Serenade," Myddleton’s "By the Swanee River,’ a descriptive selection, two popular melodies, Verdi’s. "Nabucodonosor"’ overture, the "Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz," and "Scenes ‘That Are Brightest" (from ‘"Maritana"’). The vocal portion of the programme will be proXyided by The-Majors, who will present a variety of items. Mr. James A. Paterson will dispense Scottish humour.
