Spelling Bee at 1YA
For School Children GoME months ago 1YA conducted a "Spelling Bee" for adults. This innovation proved very popular, not only with the competitors, but also with listeners, so following on a suggestion from the 1YA Musical and Dramatic Committee, the station is conducting a "Spelling Bee" for :primary school children only. It will be entertaining -to hear these young people before the microphone, and with Mr. A. B, Chappell, M.A., as adjudicytor, listeners can look forward to es evening’s enjoyment. os During the course of the programme items will be given by a new instrumental quartet-‘The Zealandia Novelty Instrumental . Quartet"-whose members perform upon the piano, steel guitar, banjo, Spanish guitar, saxophone, and clarinet. Items will also be given by Mr. J. Ainsley Daglish, a young tenor, who on his first appearance before the microphone at 1YA made a fine impression.
