2YA to 2ZF
Programme Relay -_--- ON Wednesday, February 4, the date of the first international programme from 2YA, a relay was carried out to Palmerston North, and the programme was. broadcast by the Manawatu- Radio Club’s station, 2ZF. This was the first relay of the kind from station 2YA to a broadcasting station in another town, and it was made possible by the spirit of co-operation which exists between the radio societies and *the Broadcasting Company. A similar relay was carried out last year between 4YA and the Southland Radio Society’s station in Invercargill on the occasion of the Byrd visit, and the society reciprocated in respect toa sporting event in Invercargill. It will also be remembered that on the occasion of a recent boxing match in Palmerston North, 2ZF and 2YA cooperated in broadcasting a ringside description, so now listeners in Manawatu have had the pleasure of enjoying 2YA’s special Wednesday programme through their own local station. It is probable that this relay will be the first of a regular series, provided the necessary relay line can be made available by the Post and Telegraph Department. Special equipment has been installed at 2YA for the reproduction of the overseas recordings, so that it is not possible to lend the records to 2ZI]', thus relaying is the only way by which they ean be broadcast by the Palmerston North station. .
