Meetings of Advisory Committees
T the last meeting of the 2YA Children’s Sessions Advisory Comunittee, held on Tuesday, October 14, there was a large attendance of members of the committee and Uncles and Aunts, including Aunt Pat, of 3YA, who was visiting Wellington. Those present were: Mr. L. J. Greenberg (chairman), My. J. Crewes (Big Brother Jack), Mr. G. W. Morgan (Radio Children), Mr.
J. Melville (Uncle Jim), Mrs. L. Sommerville (Federation of University Women), Miss M. G. Thornton (Teachers’ Training College), Mrs. M. Chatfield (Society of Protection of Women and Children), Miss EB. Wilson (Free, Kindergarten), Mrs. Martin Tweed (Girl Guides), Mr. Andrews (Anglican. Homes), Mr. D. P. Campbell (Presby--terian Orphanages), Miss Maynard Hall (8YA), Pastor W. G. Carpenter (Uncle George), Mr. R. Walpole (Uncle Toby), Mr. W. Mabin (Boy Scouts), Mrs D. Evans (Children’s Organiser), Mr. J. Ball (Bditor-Announcer), Mr. J. Davies (Station Director). — A useful and profitable discussion on all aspects of the Children’s Hour ensued and many helpful suggestions were made. A cordial welcome was extended to Aunt Pat who told of her experiences as Children’s Sessions Organiser at 3YA. A discussion on the length of time occupied in broadcasting birthday greetings resulted in it being decided that the age llimit be from three to ten years and the time of the broadeast restricted to 15 minutes. On the question of serial stories it was agreed that no story exceed three nights. [PHE 8YA Children’s Sessions Advisory Committee met on October 20. There were present: Mr. D. EK. Parton (chairman, representing Y.M.C.A.), Mr. W. A. Rumbold (Heacmasters’ Association), Mr. A. F. O’Donoghue (Station Director), Mr. C. S$. Booth ("Chuckle"), Mrs. 5B. CG. MeLaren (National Council of Women), Miss K. Scotter (Boy Scouts), Mrs. R. Tomlinson (Society for the Protection of Women and Children), Miss M. Hail (Secretary and Children’s Organiser). Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Schenkel and Mr. Rule. Greetings from 2YA Children’s Sessions Committee were conveyed by Miss Hall, and: reciprocated. Miss Scotter and Mr. Rumbold were appointed visitors for the month. Various matters connected with the session were dis"cussed.
