CHILDREN OF MARY AUCKLAND.

On Wednesday, March 26, Miss Annie Malloy was entertained at a social evening tendered by the members of St. Patrick’s Cathedral Sodality of the Children of Mary, Auckland, prior to her entrance as a religious in the Order of Our Lady of Mercy. There was a large gathering, and among those present, were Fathers Brennan, Kelly, and O’Byrne, and all the Sisters of the local community of St. Patrick’s. ,An enjoyable musical programme of vocal and instrumental items was contributed to by Fathers Kelly .and O’Byrne, Mrs. Ockleford, and Misses Rita Foster, Renee O’Connor, Phyllis Foley, Elsie Millar, Lulu; McGuiness, Alice McKie, and Monie Griffen. Miss Emily Allen also gave a very fine exhibition of Irish, dancing. Father O’Byrne, in a very happy .speech, voiced the feelings of all those who had been associated with Miss Molloy, and while they would miss her from their midst all would (he said) rejoice at the happy choice she had made in entering the distinguished Order of the Sisters of Mercy. As spiritual director of the sodality, the speaker said he had great pleasure, in asking Miss Molloy’s acceptance of a solid leather dress-case as an earnest of the esteem in which she was held by her companions, and as a memento of their love for her. Father Kelly, on Miss Molloy’s behalf, thanked the Rev. Director, and all present for their kind expressions and valuable gift, which would always remind her of the. happy days she had spent in St. Patrick’s Sodality. Father Brennan, as Administrator of the parish, spoke very highly of the members of the Molloy family, and of their piety and sterling Catholicity, and predicted for Miss Molloy a useful and happy life in her new calling. Supper was then served, and a very pleasant evening was brought to a close. Miss Molloy entered the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, Ponsonby, on March 25, feast of the Annunciation.
