ST. MARY'S CAIHOLIC CLUB, HOKITIKA
(From the club correspondent.) March 29. In the elocutionary competitions recently held here the cup was won by All Saints (Anglican) Club, whose competitors made 3322 points against 2858 scored by St. Mary's Club. St. Mary's Club was handicapped somewhat on account of not sufficient competitors taking part in some of the important items. The following members of St. Mary's Club were successful: Messrs. T. Greenfirst in the oration, second in the recitation, and second in the musical monologue; Mr. N. Warren first iii the prepared speech, second in the oration, and third in the impromptu debate Mr. G. Wormington third in the prepared speech, and third in the impromptu debate; and Mr. A. Heinz—third in the reading item. There was a gold medal-given as a special trophy for the highest aggregate in the impromptu debate, impromptu speech, and prepared speech. This was won by Mr. T. L. Ralfe, of All Saints Club, with 399 points, S. Wormington, of St. Mary's, being second, with 372 points. ■•
