(From our own correspondent:) April 10. At .the usual weekly meeting df the St. Columbs, Club, held, last Monday evening, three new members ! •were elected, and two candidates proposed. The programme fear the evening .consisted of essays by members. Some very good . productions were read, and a most instructive evening was spent. - On Easter Sunday at the 8 o'clock Mass the-Hiber-' man Scpiety united with the St. Columba Club, in making, a general Communion. Both societies marched in regalia from the St. Columlba Halt to the church. It was a mest edifying sight to" see over -200 men receive Holy Communion in a body. At the conclusion of the Mass Rev. Father Lownam. congratulated the men on turning out in such la'-ge nrjimfbers," thus gaining a public manifestation of their faith. He exhorted them to cpnfcnue the good example they had given that morning, and show their loyalty to the societies they represented. The misskn was brought to a close on last Sunday evening, when Rev. Father Bannon imparted the Papal blessing..

The mission preached by Rev. Fathers Barman and. Lowbam, C.SS.R., in St. Patrick's, Church proved a great success. Masses were- said- each morafing-at 6 a.m«., followed- by a short -instruction,- "and men very largely attended^ The church was crowded every evening. Very Revw Dean Carew officiated. After the ceremeny the bridal party, drove to the residence of the' bride's -brother, -where the .wedding breakfast was -laid. The happy couple left the same miorning for Chiristchuroh where.the_ honeymoon will be spent. The presents, which in—chjded several cheques,- were numerous and handsome, thus testifying to the esteem Jn which- the yoinw couple are held. ~ - " . -A very interesting cricket match took place last Thursday., afternoon on VictoriaT-Park, .when St; Mary's ladies' team ('Greymoutb) defeated- by~2's runs the Victoria -ladies!, team (WestporO). A feature of the came was the fine bowling o f M.iss Julia Greaney, - who ' played havoc with the Westport • wickets, - capturing n 0 fewer than six- in one innings, taking four 'of those T^ , °™ consecutive balls, thus perfcuahing the 'ha* trick.' Mss Annie Hale, of the Westport team, ' also performed well with the ball, and secured five of the Greymouth wickets in each innings.- At the finish of ■the game the scores stood St. Mary's, 66 ; Westport 41.
