St. Mary's Convent School, Nelson
(From our own correspondent.) There was a large assemblage of parents and friends at St. Mary's Hall on December 12 Lo witness the annual prize distribution in connection with St. Mary's Boys' and Girls' School. The Rev. Father Clancy presided, and delivered a short address. A varied programme, consisting of dialogues, recitations, and musical items, was given, the whole being particularly good. The results of the examination held during the year were as follow :— Teachers' (cert.) Class D, H. Gibbs'; Pupil Teachers' Entrance Examination, R. Weisner, E. Wonser, K. Condell. Shorthand (Pitman), second class certilicatc, M. Franklin and N. O'Brien ; elementary certificate, — CruicKshank, Agnes Casey. Trinity College (musical knowledge), junior division, A. McCarthy, E. Arnold, E. McArtney (honors), E. Saunders (pass) ; preparatory grade, — Fitzsimmons (distinction), Mary Lodge, A. Stephens, F. Saunders. Associated Board, Local Centre (rudiments), Edith Frank, Ne'lie Vaughan (maximum of marks), — Crisp (honors); practical examination, senior division, M. Mercer (honors) ; junior division, R. Roughton ; preparatory grade, I. McDonald, O. Arnold. The prizes were presented by Father O'Dwyer. The Rev. .Mother and Sisters tender their sincere thanks to all those of the city who contributed the prizes.
