The work of collecting funds for the completion of the Presbytery is now well in hand, and the different parts of the parish will be visilted during the next few weeks for that purpose.
On Sunday last the Rev. Father Rockliffe, who is at present assisting iin the parochial work here, celebrated Mass at Pleasant Point, and in the evening preached an eloquent sermon in St. Joseph's Tennu'ka.
After a continuous spell of rain, lasting over a month, the weather seems settled again . The late wet weather was very severe on tihe farmers in this district, the heavy rain playing havoc amongst tihe young lambs.
At the last meeting of the committee of the Father Fau/vel memorial fund, the following gentlemen were appointed to collect subscriptions' : — Messrs. W. Barry, W. Tarrant, J. McAuliffe, Wi Moore, J. McCabe, and the secretary, J. Moriarty. There was a large attendance of members and their friends at the last weekly meeting of the Youtog Men's CluiW to hear Mr. 0. T. J. Alpers; 'oi Tiimaru, lecture on Denmark. The chair was oottupieS toyi the Rev. Father Rockliffe, who briefly intw>duced the speaker. Mr. Alpers held the attention of his hearers for aibouit an hour and a half, whilst he described to them the manners and customs of the people of Denmark, and the constitution *iid leading features of that interestting country. At the close of his address the ltecturer was warmly aftplauded,.'a/rid he received a very hearty v.ote of thank's tot his instructive lecture.
