At al poll of ratepayers held on Monday it was decided by a large majority to accept the Water Loan proposals, whlich will fill a much felt want in tjie town. There was. a good attendance of members at the quarterly meeting of the H.A.C.B. Society held on Monday,. September 18. Bro. J. Foley was elected to tbel vacant trusteeship.
A very old and respected resident, In the person of Mrs. G. R. Freeman, died on Wednesday, the funeral taking place on Friday. Rev. Father Regnault celebrated a Requiem Mass, and the Rev. Father O'Connor officiated, at the graveside.— R.l. P.
At the annual meet-ing of St. Patrick's Literary and Debating Socvctv tlie following officers were elected :— Patron, Rev. Father Reginault ; president, Rev. Fajther O'Cotunw ; vico-presid'ent, 'Mr. IE. Costellto ; secretary, Miss K. Dooley. During the evening musical items were given by Misses Dooiey, Wall, Sims, Oostello, and, Messrs. Kane, Walls, Hickey, and Costello. Th-e dramatic section of the society intend staging a piece shortly in aid of the fund's.
