The Rev. Father Lighlhearl, Superior of the Maori Mission, left Lnerpool on June 11 on his icturn trip to tins Colony. A pleasing function (writes a correspondent) took place last wee!* m connection with the Imeicargill Athletic and Literary Club, when the members entertained at a bamquet Mr. I). J. Corcoran, who has acted as secietarv of the club since its inception The president (Mr T. P. (Jilfeckler) occupied the chair and the attendance was large. The chairman paid a high tribute of piaise to the excellent work done by Mr. Corcoran m his official capacity, and his remarks were ably endorsed by Messrs. O'Bnon, Muhey, Woods, and otheis. Mr. Corcoran suitably acknowledged the honor confeired upon him and the compliment paid in his energies. A long toast list was gone through, and a pleasant function -was brought to a close by the singing of ' Auld Lang Syne ' *
