July 2, It is with great regret I have to record the death, of Mr. John . Kavanagh, Rangitikei street, and, late of Asfourst, brother of Mrs.. Roger Mulrooney, of Palmerstun, and brother-in-law to Mr. Michael O'Reilly, of Awahuri. The deceased gentleman passed away after a very short} iline^B, fortiited by all the rites of Holy Lhurcb, on Thursday, 22nd ult. His funeral took place on Sunday last at the Palmerston Cemetery, and • was largely attended. He leaves a wife and child to mourn their loss.— R.l. P. The quarterly meeting oi the H.A.C.B. Society was held on Tuesday last, there being the largest muster of members and the greatest cash receipts since the branch was started. Three bienent members wore initiated, and several candidates proposed. The usual nomin* ation of officers for the ensuing half-year took place, and two more doctors were added to the list, making three in all, namely, Dfls. O'Brien, Patterson, am i Peach. A usit was received fjrom Bro. I>. Doherty (past president, Wellington), who was introduced, by FSro. Dallow. He was warmly received, and later in the evening gave a short address, wtrteh was listened to with close attention.
