Popular interest was manifested in a wedding winch took place in St. Mary's C-hurch, Blenheim, the otherday, when IMiss Kdith Mary Waddy, of Blenheim 1 , was mairied t-o Mr. Edward L. Broad, ot Wellington, eldest son ot Uhe late Judge Broad. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Servajean in the presence ot a large number ot people, t<lie church being filled with friends and relatives. The bride was led to the altar by her brother, Mr. G. Wiaddy, and was attended by Misses Waddy (2) and Miss 'A. Broad as bridesmaids. The briidegroom was accompanied by Mr. Holmes, of Wellington. The wedding march was played as the bridal party entered the church. Subsequently Miss F Momsun sang an 'A\ c Mana.' The wedding guest were entertained by Mrs. Waddy at her residence, Maxwell lioaid. The piesents were numerous and valuable.

Last week the Hon. W. Bechan, M L.C., addressed the Catholics of Nelson on the formation of a branch of the H.A.C.B. Society, the Rev. Father Clancy piesidmg. Mr. Beeh'an rclerred to the many advantages that were to be gamed by becoming a member of tne Society, and said that our Catholic young men were too miuch inclined to join other benciit societies, which, although good in themselves, had. not the same objects in view as the H.A C.B. Society Mr Beehan closed an interesting address by saying' that he trusted the parishioners would try and do their best and be able to report to him that favorable progress would eventuate Rev Father George Mahony proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr Beehan, and fully endorsed his remarks as to the benefits resulting irom the starting of a branch of the Society m Nelson. Mr. Jas Armstrong seconded the resolution, which was oarnod by acclamation.

The p-actical music examinations by Mr Graham Moore, of the Associated Board, was held recently, the following pupils horn St Maiy's foment being successful :— School elementary (piano), Misses Stephens (distinction), X Saunders, M. Lodge (distinction), L Taylor, M. Coglan , school lower (piano), Misses R Roughton (distinction), !•; Lo'd-go, F Hailes^ FJ Cruiekshank, A. Casey.
