(From our own correspondent.)

A successful 1 picnic of the Tenvuka parish schools was held in Victoria Park, Temuka, last Thursday. The weather was rather unfavorable, slight showers being frequent, but urtder the guidance of the capable secretary, Mr. Moriaxty, and Rev. Father Kerley, tjhe siports and games were not allowed to flag during, the day. The ladies of the parish provided a liberal supply of lefreshments, and, altogether, the oiiting was. most enjioyable. Rev. Fatihers Tubnaan and Le Floch were present from Timaru.
The story of the martyrdom of St. Philomena was told in the girls' parochial school on last Thursday afternoon by means of a little 'drama in three acts. The large class room was filled with the piupils, some rvisiting Sisters from the convent, Children of Mary, and parents of pupils. Tihe children went through their different parts admirably, and gave evidence by their
clear and distinct enunciation of the careful training they had received. The different choruses rendered by all tiie children were much enjoyed as were the pianoforte solos so tastefully given by the Misses Reilly and McDonaUd. The characters were sustained by tdie Misses Kane, Albert, Schaab, Uronin, O'Brien, Bei'gin, Sullivan, Keilly and Cox.
