DIOCESE OF AUCKLAND
(From our own correspondent.) October 30. Rev. Fathers Cahtll and Dignan, recently ordained itricwty for this diocese, left England for New Zealand on September 3, and are expected to come across from Australia after the Congress with his Lordship the Bishop. A very successful entertainment was 'given last Friday evening at St. Mary's Convent Hiah School, Ponsionjby, Ijy the pupils, under tihe directron of their gymnastic instructor. A most enjoyable evening was spent by the large audience who attended. The members of the local branch of the IT AC B. Society approached the Holy Table in a body at St Patrick's last Sunday morning. They mustered at t'r.e Hibernian Hall and marcned Whence to tihe Cathedral. There was a fine muster, the largest for some time. The memhjers wero welcomed by the Rev. Father Patterson, Adnn, (chaplain). After the fits.'fc Gos-peJ the-rev^ chaplain alluded to the presence of the members of the Society, and expressed regret at the absence of his Lordship the Bishop, who would have been pleased at sfuch a 'manifestation of their faitih. Fatlher Patterson then referred at some, length to the good work of the Society, which looked after the spiritual and temporal welfare of its members, and recommended every young man aad young woman in the paxi'sTi to join it. During the Mass the children's choir sang ' All Praise to St. Patrick ' and ' Faith of cmr Fathers.' Mi sis Julia Rist accompanied on the small organ. At the conclusion of the Mass the members marched fo St. Patrick's Hajl.
