Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report :— We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday. Our catalogue comprised good to best feed oats, fowl wheat, potatoes, chaff, hay, etc. For most of these lines there was moderate competition up to late values. Chaff, however, was in oversupply, and difficult to quit at a slight reduction in pi ices. Values ruled as under :—: — Oats.— Seed lines and prime milling quality continue to meet a fair demand at late quotations. For best feed (prflme B grade) there is also fair inquiry,, and the same may be said of medium B grade. Lower qualities, however, have little attention. We quote : Sefed lines, Is lid to 2s 3d ; pri...e milling, Is 8d to Is lOd ; good to best feed, Is 7d to Is 7£d ; inferior to medium, Is to Is 6d per bushel (sacks qxtra). Wheat.— Only prime milling quality is in favor with local millers, who are^not to be tempted with anything of lower grade. Medium quality is therefore without much attention. Fowl wheat is offering sparingly, and shows some improvement in value. We quote : Prime mill'ng, 3s lid to 4s 2d ; medium to good, 3s 5d to ds 9d ; best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 4d ; broken and damaged, 2s 6d to 3s per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.— The market is fairly well supplied with Derwents and other table sorts, and prices show no quotable change We quote : Best Derwents, £4 to £4 5s ; prime Oamarus, to £4 7s 6d ; medium, £3 10s to £3 15s ; best kidneys, etc., £4 10s to £5 ; others, £d to £4 per ton (bags in). Chaff.— The market is very heavily supplied, and anything but prime quality meets with very slow sale. We offered a"bout 60 tons, medium to prime. For the

latter there was fair competition, but for other sorts the demand was extremely slack, and a large proportion had to be passed in for lack of competition. We quote • Prime oaten sheaf, £3 to £3 5s ; medium to good, £2 10s to £2 15s ; inferior, light, and straw chaff, £1 10s to £2 5s per ton (bags extra). Turnips.— We sold several trucks good swedes at 15s 6d per ton (loose, ex truck). Straw.— We quote : Best oaten and wheat, 25s to 30s per ton.

Messrs. Stronach, Morris and Co. report as follows : Wheat.— Very little business doing. Supplies of fowl feed being reduced is causing a hardening tendency for that quality. Prime milling, 4s to 4s 2d for velvet 3s 9d to 3s lid for red sorts ; medium, 3s 6d to 3s 9d • good whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; medium do 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 2s 6d to 2s 9d (sacks extra) .

Oats.— The lack of animation continues, and very little business is doing. Seed lots, 2s to 2s 3d ; prime milling, Is 8d to Is 9d ; best feed, Is 7d to Is 74d • inferior to medium, Is 3d to Is 6d (sacks extra) ' Chaff.— Market steady. Prime 65s to 67s 6d : extra to 70s (sacks extra). ' Potatoes.— Prime Northern Derwents, £4 7s 6d • others, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d ; seed potatoes, £4 10s to £5 (Sclcks in ) .
