Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report :— We held our weekly produce sale at our stores on Monday, when up submitted a large catalogue to a full attendance of buyeis. Puces ruled as under :—: — Oats.— There is practically no change in the market to report Prime milling and seed lines continue to ha\e some attention, while good to best feed have been more strongly mquued for, but at prices which show no improvement on late quotations. Medium and inferior sorts are offeiing freely, but are not in favor of buyers. Quotations Seed lines, Is lid to 2s 3d ; prime milling, Is 8d to Ls lOd , good to best feed, Is 7d to Is 7£d ; inferior and medium, ls to ls 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.— ln milling quality prime lines only are in favor with buyers, medium being still for the most part neglected. Fowl wheat has been moving off freely and is in shorter supply. There is steady demand, and prices are a shade firmer. Quotations . Prime milling, 3s lid to 4s 2d ; medium to good, 3s 5d to 3s lOd ; best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3d , broken, damaged, and medium, 2s 6d to 3s Id per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes — There is still good inquiry for prime Oamaru Derwents, although the market has been more heavily supplied with good samples from Canterbury. Kidneys and up-to-dates have fair inquiry,' but early red sorts are not readily placed Quotations • Seed lines, £4 10s to £5 10s ; prime Derwetits, £4 5s to £4 7s 6d . medium to good, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d ; others, £3 to £3 10s per ton (sacks in). Chafi —The market is still well supplied wish chaff of medium quality, which continues to arrive steadily and meets with little inquiry. Prime quality is not over-plentiful and readily quitted on arrival. Quotations : Good to best oaten sheaf, £3 to £3 7s 6d ; medium, £2 to £2 15s ; inferior and straw chaff, £1 15s to £2 5s per ton (bags extra) Straw. — Quotations : Best oaten straw (pressed), 27s 6d to 30s ; wheat, 25s to 27s 6d per ton.
Messrs. Stronach, Morris, and Co. report as follows :
Wheat.— The market continues as last reported, millers not being prepared to buy except odd lots. Fowl wheat has good inquiry, but there is not so much offering. Quotations : Prime milling, 4s to 4s 2d ; whole fowl wheat, 3s to 3s 3d.
Oats.— Buyers decline to do business at present quotations excep>t in small lines, and should holders foro«i sales in any quantity the market is bound to ease. Prosent quotations are : Seed lines, Is lOd to 2s 3d ; prime milling, ls 8d to ls 9|d ; good to beet feed, ls 7<i to ls 7^d , inferior, ls to ls 4d.
Potatoes.— Best Derwents, £4 5s to £4 7s 6d. Chaff.— There is a good demand for prime lines which are scarce, and are worth £3 2s 6d to £3 7s 6d. Medium and inferior is in over supply and/ worth £1 10s to £3.
