DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—: — There was again this week a small entry. Draughts were very scarce, and the few sound, fresh horses that were in the market brought great prices, considering that none of them were young. M.r,. William Smith's six-year-old gelding was withdrawn at £56, two aged geldings from Linnburn station were sold at £46 and £42 respectively, and four other aged horses changed hands at £47, £41 10s, £25, and £21 10s respectively. In light horses a number suitable for the trams were sold at prices ranging from £14 to £29. Other descriptions of light horses were dull of sale, and very little business was done in them. We quote : Superior young draught geldings, £48 to £54 ; extra good, prize horses, £55 to £60 ; medium draught mares and geldings, £35 to £46aged do, £25 to £34 ; upstanding carriage horses, £30* to £35 ; well-matched carriage pairs, £70 to £90 ; spring-cart and butchers' order-cart horses", £18 to £30tram horses, £14 to £28 ; light hacks, £10 to £15 ' extra good hacks, £18 to £25 ; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, £3 to £8.
