NEW PLYMOUTH.

(From an occasional correspondent )

April 22. The bazaar in aid of the new parish school was held during Easter week, and the promoters, Mesdames C Clarke, W. Bennet, .1. Bennet. Drtckrill, and Ryan, and Misses Radikml, Hopkinson, O'Connor, Armstrong, and Gallagher, are indeed worthy of the highest praise for the success which rewarded their efforts ; also Mr Scully, who made a most energetic secretary. A gold watch, given by Very Rev. Dean McKenna to the lady who collected most money, was awarded to Miss Katie Flynn. When all accounts are settled, the Very Rev. Dean hopes to have about £250 nett.

On Easter Sunday two Masses were celebrated in St. Joseph's Qhurch. At the last Mass the choir rendered very creditably Farmer's Mass in B flat, solos being sung by Mrs. Bennet, Misses Radford, and O'Donnell "(sopranos), Misses O'Connor and Dolan (altos), Messrs. Sullivan (tenor), Beale and L. Cox (basses). Miss Bessie Flynn, of Hawera, who assisted the choir, sang at the offertory an 'O Salutaris' composed by her sister Mrs. N. Quin. After Mass the ' Haec Dies ' was sung by the choir. In the evening at Benediction an 'O> Salutaris ' (Murphy) was sung, in which Miss Bessie Flynn and Mr. O'Donnell took the solos, and the ' Tanrtum Ergo ' (Mrs. N. Quin) was given > by Misses Bessie and Katie Fly,nn. The solos of the Litany were well rendered by Misses Radford and O'Donnell, Messrs. Batchelor, O'Donnell, and L. Cox. As a voluntary Miss Bessie Flynn sang Liddle's ' Abide with Me ' most devotionally. The duties of organist were most creditably carried out by Miss Katie Flynn. The altars were beautifully decorated for the great festival, the work reflecting the highest credit on the Misses Radford.
