Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report : — We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday, when we submitted a moderate catalogue to a full attendance of buyers. Prices ruled as under :—: —

Oats. — During the past week there has been steady sale for all consignments arriving in condition for export. Milling lines also have some attention, but unsound or doubtful lines of feed oats have little attention, and can only be cleared in small lots for local use. We quote : Prime milling, Is 9d to Is 9id ; good to best feed, Is 8d to Is 9d ; inferior and medium, Is 6d to Is 7id per bushel (sacks extra).

Wheat. — Millers' supplies are being drawn chiefly from the north, most of the southern wheat coming forward being rather out of condition to suit their present requirements. The demand is chiefly confined to prime quality, medium sorts being little inquired for. Fowl wheat is offering more freely, and at slightly reduced rates. We quote : Prime milling, 4s Id to 4s 3d ; good do, 4s ; best whole fowl wheat 3s lOd to 3s lid ; medium, 3s 8d to 3s 9d ; broken and damaged, 3s 3d to 3s 7d per bushel (sacks extra).

Potatoes.— Arrivals have been barely sufficient to meet requirements, and the demand continues steady for all sound lots at prices fully equal to those ruling last week. We quote : Best Derwents, £3 17s 6d to £4 2s 6d ; medium, £3 10s to £3 15s ; other sorts, £3 to £3 10s per ton (bags in). Chaff. — The market is bare of prime quality, and any such now arriving will be sure of ready sale at satisfactory prices. During the past week nearly all prime quality coming forward was quitted at £3 15s per ton, but to-day, in view of the stocks being reduced, the same chaff would probably sell readily at £4 per ton ; good oaten sheaf at £3 5s to £3 15s ; medium, £2 {Lsa to £3 per ton (bags extra).
