Napier, April 23.— The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company cable : — ' .Canterbury mutton has declined a farthing further. There is fall in values of lamb of both qualities. Quotations : Canterbury mutton, 4id ; Napier, Wellington, and North Island, 3Jd. Lamb : First quality, 5d ; second quality, 4£d.' London, April 24.— Butter is firm. Danish, 108s ; New Zealand (exhausted), 102s to 104s is asked for the next arrival.
Wellington, April 27.— The Agent-General's cablegram, dated London, 25th inst., is as follows : — The mutton market is quiet, with an inclination to force sales. Canterbury, 4fd ; Dunedin, Southland, and Meat Export, 4d ; other North Island, 3 3-5 d ; River Plate mutton, 3fd. There is a good demand for all classes of lamb, and competition amongst holders to clear stocks has lowered values. Canterbury. 4fcd ; other brands, 4}d. The beef market is quiet. New Zealand hinds, 4£d ; fores, 3fd. Butter is in good demand with small supplies on hand. New Zealand butter is quoted at 102s ; Danish, 107s. No alteration in cheese. London, April 27. — Frozen mutton : Sheep — Canterbury, light, 4sd ; medium, 4fd ; heavy, 4Jd ; Dunedin and Southland, 4d ; North Island 3 13-3 6 d. Lambs—Canterbury—light, 4 15-16 d ; heavy, 4£d ; Dunedin and Southland, 4|d ; North Island, 4fd. New Zealand beef, 1801 bto 2201b— Fores, 3frd ; hinds, 4fd. River Plate sheep unchanged. Lambs, 4sd ; beef— fores, 3fd ; hinds, unchanged.
