Mr. F. Meenan, King street, reports : — Wholesale prices only — Oats : Milling, 2s 7d to 2s <Jd , feeding, 2s 4d to 29 6d. Wheat (good demand) : Willing, 4s to 4s 3d ; fowls', 3s 3d Potatoes, £4 os. Chaff : Inferior to medium, £3 to £3 10s ; prime, £4 10s. Straw : £1 12s 6d , pressed, £2 ; loose none in market. Flour : 2001 b sacks, £11 10s ; 501 b, £12 5s ; 251 b, £12 10s. Oatmeal : 251 b : £14 10s. Butter : Dairy, 7d to 0d ; factory, Is Id. Cheese : Dairy, 4£d ; factory, sd. Eggs, Is sd. Onions : Christchurch £7. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. ited) report ha\ing held their weekly auction salo of grain and produce at their stores on Monday. There was i\ moderate attendance of buyers, who were not keen on business, and except for chaff, for which thore was good competition, the sale throughout was without spirit. Prices ruled as under :—: — Oats — Duning tho past week the volume of business passing has been extremely small, and it has been impossible to effect sales on the ba&iHl of late quotations. Stocks on hand have accumulated slightly, but are still \ery much below the average at this season of the year, and any unproved demand would speedily absorb nil stocks. Wo quote : Prime
milling, 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; good to best feed, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; inferior and medium, 2s 2d to 2s 4d per bushel (sacks extra) . Wheat. — There is little change to report. Prime quality is the only class in favor with millers, and is saleable at late quotations. Medium is still neglected, while fowl wheat is not offering freely, and readily commands Into values Wo quote • Prime milling, 3s lOd to 4s 3d ; medium, 3s 4d to 3s Yd : best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; medium, 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 2s 6d to 2s lOd per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — The market is well supplied, and sales are not so readily effected. Wo submitted a fair quantity on Monday, but, in the absence of competition, most of those on offer were passed in. We quote : Best Derwents, £4 to £4 10s , others, £3 5s to £3 15s per ton (bags in). Chaff, — Prime oaten sheaf is in short supply, and is inquired for at slightly improved values. Medium quality is still plentiful and meets with little demand. We quote : Fnuiio oaten sheaf, £4 10s to £4 17s 0d , good, £3 15s to £4 5s ; inferior and medium, £2 10s to £3 10a per ton (bags extra).
