ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. At the Addington market the entries were :— 14156 sheep, 443 cattle, 549 pigs. Of fat cattle, 186 head were yarded. Bidding was slow, and a drop of Is per 1001 bon last week's prices took place. No North Island stock were to hand. Steers bought at £6 17s 6d to £10 17s 6d ; heifers, £5 15s to £7 17s 6d ; cows, £5 to £7 17s 6d ; or equal to 16s to 21s per 1001 b. Store cattle showed a good entry, and there was strong competition for all classes. Three hundred and ninety-two old steers brought £6 10s to £6 15s ; heifers, £4 8s 6d ; two-year-old steers, £4 5s to £4 9s ; 15 to 18-months cattle, £2 5s to £2 1.9s ; yearlings, £1 4s to £1 17s 6d ; dry cows, £2 10s to £4 £ss. Of dairy cows there was an average entry, and £7 17s 6d was given for good sorts. One really prime brought £10. Fat Sheep showed a fairly ' large entry, the bulk of the crossbred ewes being of good quality, and for freezing sheep there was fair competition, but spirited for good ewes, which advanced Is per head ; for other ewes bidding was irregular, but the tone firmer. Wethers brought 13s 9d to 14s 6d ; for light-weights and freezing weights, 15s to 16s 9d ; extra prime heavy weights, 17s to 17s 9d ; ewes, sound mouth, crossbred, 14s to 15s 7d ; aged, 7s 4d to 13s 9d . In fat lambs there was a smaller entry by nearly 1000, and a falling in quality as well. The competition was good for the best freezers, but prices easier ; 1588 were sold by auction for freezing at 11s 4d to 14s sd. The trade took 313 at 10s to 14s 2d ; graziers 246 at 10s 3d to 12s lOd ; and the remainder, 1120, passed auction at 10s to 12s 9d. Store sheep showed a larger entry, mostly North Island and Chatham Island sheep. The bulk of the entry found buyers, and prices showed a slight improvement. The principal sales were 192 four and six-tooth crossbred wethers, 13s 7d ; 67 at 13s 6d ; 58 t 13s 3d ; 196 at 12s 5d ; 128 two-tooth crossbred wethers, 12s lid ; 270 at lls 3d ; 197 ot 10s 5d ; 93 four and sixtooth crossbred ewes, 13s Id ; 122 mixed ages, lls 6d ; 124 at 10s Id ; aged, 7s 3d ; rape lambs, 9s 6d to lls 4d ; stores, 5s to 7s Id. Pigs showed a larger yarding, and a good demand all round. Baconers, 34s to 555, or 3|d per lb ; porkers, 22s to 30s, or 4d per lb ; large stores, 14s to 23s 6d ; weaners and small stores, 5s to Bs.
