(From our own correspondent.) February 17. Harvest is in full swing in this district, but work has been put back considerably by a few wet days during the week. The crops will be well up to the average in yields. The Borough Council intend putting £1000 worth of 4 per cent, debentures on the market for tha purpose of procuring a roadroller and stone-crusher. The balance of the loans will be placed on the London market, as the Government decline to lend as much as £10,000 to any one borough. Thearr angements for the monster picnic to be held at Winchester on St. Patrick's Day are progressing favorably. A special train will be engaged and the charges are to be : Adults, males ss, females 3s. Children travel free. As the catering for such a large number would be rather a big undertaking it is more than probable that it will be decided that each family take its own refreshments. Many hands makes labor light. Father Le Petit is superintending the rehearsal of the drama entitled 'My lord in livery,' while Father Aabry has his hands full with a musical programme for the grand entertainment to be given in the evening as a wind-up to the day's amusement. Archbißhop Redwood, Bishop Grimes, and Bishop Lenihan arrived in Timarn on Thursday last, and left on Friday for Dunedin. During their s^ay a visit was made to the parish schools and the convent, the distinguished visitors expressing themselves as highly pleased with their efficiency and appointments. The schools are now in full swing, and as there are about 150 pupils in each, the good nuns and Brothers have a busy time.
