A most successful social gathering, organised by the Catholics of the Hornby district, was given in the Midland Saleyards Company's store at Sockburn on Tuesday evening last, the 11th inst. The proceeds are to be devoted to the purposes of a bazaar, now being promoted, and which is to be held in August. At the ad j ourned half-yearly meeting of the St. Patrick's branch of the H.A.C.B. Society held recently, after the balance-sheet and auditors' report were read and adopted, the following officers for the ensuing term were installed by P.P. Bro. F. J. O'Connell, assisted by Bros. Dobbs 'and Nelson, P.Pe. : — President, Bro. R. J. Evans; vicepresident, Bro. D. Edmonds ; secretary, Bro. G. J. Sellars (reelected) ; assistant secretary, Bro. Packer ; treasurer. Bro. J. J. Hynes ; warden, Bro. Hickland ; guardian, Bro. Keating ; sick visitors, Bros. Kiely and P. J. Nelson ; auditors, Bros. Steinmetz and Dobbs ; medical attendants, Drs. G. E. and J. H.
