Dunedin Horse Saleyards.
Mann. Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows :—: — Saturday, 23rd inst, being the anniversary of Otago and a pnblio holiday, we held our weekly sale on Monday instead. For an oil day the attendance of buyers was very large, and, taking into account the small number of horses forward, the sale was a satisfactory one. Mr W. G. Stewart's draft of light horses, unbroken, from Makarora, Lake Wanaka district, was the chief draw, and, as was generally anticipated, there was keen competition for the consignment The following are the prices realised : — Four year olds, L 23, L2O, Ll6 10s, Lls 10s ; two year olda, Ll2 10s and LlO 10s. Three npntandiner four and five-year-old harness horses by Merrie Stanton brought L 26 ss, L 22 6s, and L2O respectively. A few other useful harness horses sold at from LI 2 to LI 6. There were only three draughts entered, and one of these changed hands at L 35 los. We quote : Superior young draught geldings, L 45 to LSO ; extra good, price hones, L 52 to L6O ; medium draught mares and geldings, L3O to L4O ; aged do, LlB to L 25 ; upstanding carriage horses, L 25 to L3O ; well-matched carriage pairs, L6O to LBO ; strong spring van horses, L 22 to L3O ; milk-cart and butchers' order-cart horses, Ll6 to LSI ; tram hones, Ll2 to Ll7 ; light hacks, L 8 to L 10;1 0; extra food hacks, L2O to L 25 ; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, L2toLs.
