On account of the holidays there was a double market at Addington last week, when there were fair entries of fat stock, and the usual quantity of stores. The entries embraced 4870 fat sheep, 850 fat lambs, 4450 store sheep, 446 cattle, and 362 pigs. Fat Cattle— The bulk of the 298 fat cattle were mostly good to prime sorts, including some good bullocks from the North Island, and several which won prizes at local shows. Bidding was very irregular, and only the very tip-top stuff upheld last week's prices. A few extra prime steers brought from L 9 to LlO, the North Islanders being passed at L 8 7s 6d. Good steers sold at L<s 10s to L 7 15s, and lighter down to L 5 5s ; extra prime heifers to L 8 ; and lighter sorts from L 3 16s to L 6 10s. Ordinary to good cow beef brought from L 3 17a (jd to L 6. The only line of stores worth quoting were some three and four year steers sold at L 5 7s 6d. Fat Sheep — The fall in the price of mutton at Home was refleoted in both the fat and store sheep to-day, and the market for both showed a considerable decline, freezing sorts being down Is, and butchers' sheep fully Is 6d. In the tat pens wethers in the wool brought from 15s to 18s for freezers, and up to 21s for picktd pens of butchers' sorts. Lighter sorts of wethers and mixed sexes sold at down to 12s ; good quality shorn wethers, 12a to 15s ; and ewes, 10s 6d to 13s, and up to 14s lid for extra prime. Fat ewes realised 12s to 15s 6d. and up to 18s for a few exhibition lots : extra prime merino wethers, 16s to 17s 3d ; and others, 12s to 15s. Fat Lambs— The fat lambs were not a particularly good lot, and very few were taken for freezing, prices ranging from 9s 6d to 11b 6d.
