PROGRAMME POINTS
Sir,-I am glad readers are criticising the serials offered to the housewives of New Zealand (who, I agree, are not all bird-brained), as it gives me the opportunity of making a suggestion which, as an alternative to the present improbable stories, would be more interesting, less expensive, and an education, I suggest that men and women of New Zealand read from the many good books which are readily available. I find the stories read during the children’s ses- . sion very much alive, and Emlyn Williams during his stay here kept us enthralled via the radio, with classics which most of us have forgotten since schooldays. I’m sure good readers are not difficult to find.
