RELIGIOUS BROADCASTS
Sir,-The daily readings from the Bible are being presented in a most interesting fashion. I find our young children keen to listen too, when the reading is not too far over their heads, One wonders if it might be more worthwhile to give the book and chapter first. Quite a good exercise then for the youngster learning his way round the Bible to look it up as the lead-in music is playing. Of course, as the readings are from various translations it is not likely a copy of each one used would
be in many households, but quite a lot of the readings are from the Authorised Version. W.G.D.’s letter of October 18 suggests there is a comparatively small pressure group behind the increase in religion on the air. On the other hand, I have often felt disappointed that there is so little on at popular listening times. There has been the occasional Christian Question-box series, which has been thought provocative, presented at a good hour. Morning sessions and late evening BBC services on the YCs must be to a much smaller listening audience. I hope at least the readings from the Bible will become an_ established
feature.
