Oil on Kid Gloves
Dear Aunt Daisy, I am wondering if you can help me? I have spilt olive oil on a pair of skin kid gloves. I have tried methylated spirits, but this won’t move it. I would be very grateful if you could help me.Miss N.G., Richmond. Here is your answer, from a listener: "Re gloves stained with olive oil. This was my experience. I washed gloves in soap-flakes; the stain was still there. I thought it hopeless to bother further; rolled gloves in brown paper and threw them in a cupboard; forgot about them for weeks. When I unexpectedly opened this parcel all trace of oil had disappeared!" (There is also available now a new type of kid-glove soap-a French thing, like tiny pillows filled with a solution, which you put into warm water. You can do several pairs at a time. Each one costs ninepence. I got mine at a glove counter.)
