Johnny Desmond began singing professionally at 9. After studying at the Detroit Conservatory of Music he organised the Bob-O-Links vocal quartet which became part of the early 1940's Bob Crosby Band. Johnny Desmond then signed up with the Gene Krupa Band but on joining the army in 1943 he hecame vocalist with the Glen Miller A.A.F. Band. After the war he landed his first network radio show. Johnny Desmond may be heard from 3ZB at 6.15 this evening. * * * Orchestral settings of several British traditional airs will be featured by 2ZA at 4.40 when the Robert Farnon Orchestra presents "Songs of Britain."
