Scottish Evening

NE evening recently a good time was had by all in-this household when we tuned in to 4YA’s "Reel and Strathspey’s Club." The youngest was twirled around the room on my shoulder, above my head, on one hip until his smiles gave way to the ridiculous laughter of the very young, but imagine my surprise on waltzing into a bedroom to find my young daughter sitting up in a very alert fashion. "Beaut music, isn’t it, Dad?" "Yes," I said, "It’s Scottish music, that’s why"-cashing in with a certain amount of pride on something which must be in my blood as it seems it will be in hers. Nor, I noticed, was this enthusiasm for Jimmy Shand’s Orchestra and Robert Wilson’s singing confined to this Christchurch house. Requests went as far afield as Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki and Auckland.
