-- Vincent Youmans, the composer of "Tea For Two," "Great Day’ and "Hallelujah," became a songwriter against the wishes of his father. The future songwriter joined the United States Navy and hegan to compose tunes in his spare time. After his discharge, Youmans became staff pianist with a New York music publishing house. In 1933 he went to Hollywood and wrote the score for "Flying Down to Rio." In 1934 he contracted tuberculosis and until his déath in 1946 he was engaged in a constant fight for life. During that time he wrote a number of songs which are still unpublished. A group of Vincent Youman’s compositions may be heard from 3ZB at 10.15 this evening. * * > "You Can't Win" factual stories of people who have learned the hard way -who have taken the short cut the wrong way-who have lived by. their wits the easy way.
