Suite Dyeing
Dear Aunt Daisy, I was very interested in P.G.M.’s letter in The Listener about dyeing a chesterfield suite, and as the reply was not very encouraging, I would like to pass on my successful experience. The dye I used is an English carpet dye, available in six colours-royal, red, green, brown, orange and burgundy. Orange was the nearest colour to my suite and I am very pleased with the result. Oné coat is all that is necessary and one tin will be quite sufficient for a chesterfield suite, as it will dye 16 sq. yards. There is no need to remove the covers. Instructions are given on the tin, and the dye should be well rubbed in with a stiff brush and allowed to dry in the shade. Damping the material with the dye also improves the final appearance. as when it is dry the material, having shrunk a little, is quite taut again and
looks like new.
