Limp Straw Hat

Dear Aunt Daisy, I have a straw hat which I washed, and which in consequence has become limp and out of shape. I am wondering if you can tell me a good way of stiffening it? It is a useful beach hat and I shall be sorry if I cannot use it again. I had thought of starching it, but then a shower of rain; or any wetting, would revert it to its present state of limpness. Please reply through The Listener.

‘You could try dipping it, when dry, in the plastic starch now available. While it is wet, arrange it in the shape you want. Plastic starch is unaffected by water. Follow the directions.
