CROSSWORD PUZZLES.
Sir,-I should like to thank "Grateful" and all others who have, through your correspondence column and by letters addressed to me personally, expressed their appreciation of the Crossword Puzzles. I have also been grateful for criticisms and suggestions offered from time to time, which I have as far as possible tried to follow, It is easily understood, however, that it is impossible to please everyone’s tastes, and I have had to attempt to strike an average of difficulty. I have also tried to be fair within the limits of recognised types of crossword puzzle clues, and to introduce as much variation as possible, May I take this opportunity of wishing you and your readers a happy and prosperous New Year.
