With Green Tomatoes WO pounds green tomatoes, 2 Ibs. apples, 2 Ibs. quinces, 1 Ib. rhubarb, 11% Ibs. onions, 2 Ibs. brown sugar or golden syrup, 1 Ib, stoned dates, 1 Ib. raisins, 1 lb. stoned prunes, 1% Ib. preserved ginger, 1 piece root ginger, 1 tablespoon salt, pinch cayenne pepper, 1 dessertspoon curry powder, a few peppercorns and cloves, 2 quarts vinegar. Cut up finely all the fruit, both fresh and dry. Bring the vinegar to the boil with the spices and root ginger tied in a piece of muslin, or a little bag. Add all the ingredients to the boiling vinegar, and boil for 3 hours.
