"FIRST-RIE ENEMY EQUIPMENT."
Unter dieser (Jberschrift war kiirzlich folgendes in der Tageszeitung zu lesen: “German equipment and materials captured in Cherbourg are of first-rate quality,states a message from United States Headquarters in Cherbourg. Some ammunition boxes, made of fine woodwork and lined with zinc for and others of metal with waterproof removable lockable lids, also cranes, generators and concrete mixers are regarded by the United States Army engineers who are now using them as superior to standard American equipment.
The message adds that German use of metal more lavish than in American production indicates that there are no dire shortages in the Reich as so often reported.”
Fin anderer Auszug aus der DOMINION vora 2.Marz 1944 lautet folgendermassen: “Germany is well fed, still has enormous industrial potential and morale, and is still on the whole unbro® ken, despite several million homeless. This, says THE TIMES Lisbon correspondent, is the impression gained from trainloads of American citizens arriving in Lisbon from internment in Germany • “
