TABLE SHOWING THE REDUCTION EFFECTED IN THE TIME SPENT IN NEW ZEALAND BY OVERSEAS VESSELS

Notes. —(1) During war period engine repairs are being carried out in New Zealand which were previously performed overseas. (4) It is estimated that the average saving of eighteen days per vessel is made up as follows : — (i) Speedier work under co-operative contracting system .. .. .. .. .. .. 5 days. (ii) Working shifts, Sundays, and holidays .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 7 days. (iii) Reduction in ports of call .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 6 days. Total .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 18 days.
