No. 47.—Petition of Rangihuna Pere and 2 Others, of Manaia Praying that effect be given to the 1939 report of the Native Affairs Committee regarding Taranaki leases. 1 am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. No. 48.—Petition of Rangihuna Pere and 2 Others, of Manaia Praying that their claim in the Waimate Plains confiscated block be referred to the proposed Commission on Native land claims. No. 29. —Petition of Pera te Horowai and 57 Others, of Te Whaiti Praying that the purchase-price of the Te Whaiti Nos. 1 and 2 Blocks be reviewed. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry, with a recommendation that in the event of a finding favourable to the petitioners compensation be made in land. 12th September, 1944.
