No. 2.—Petition of G. W. Drew, of Auckland. Praying for additional compensation in respect of the death of his son as the result of an accident while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd December, 1937.
No. 116. —Petition of Mate Marsich, of Mullet Point. Praying for compensation in respect of an injury allegedly sustained while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that, as the petitioner has been placed in suitable employment by the Public Works Department the Committee has no recommendation to make. R. Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Labour Bills Committee passed the following resolution : " That the Committee place on record its high appreciation of the ability with which the Chairman, Mr. R. McKeen, has conducted the business of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." C. H. Chapman, a Member of the Committee. 14th March, 1938.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Labour Bills Committee passed the following resolution : " That the Committee place on record its appreciation of the efficient manner in which the Clerk, Mr. E. A. Dobbie, has carried out his duties during the session, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." 14th March, 1938.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has during the session held six meetings, with ail average attendance at each meeting of six members. Two Bills and two petitions have been considered and reported upon to the House, while one petition was received too late to be dealt with. R. McKeen, Chairman. 14th March, 1938.
