Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Bill. The Native Affairs Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour, to report that it lias carefully considered the same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. 6th December, 1918. No. 151 (1916). —Petition of Hone Puruwhare. Praying for an inquiry with a view to ascertaining who are the beneficial owners of the Palmerston North Native Reserve. 1 atu directed to report that, as the petitioner is since deceased, the Committee recommends that this petition be withdrawn. 9th December, 1918. [Translation.] No. 151 (1916). —Pitihana a Hone Puruwhario. E inoi ana kia whakaaetia he uiuinga kia kitea ai ko wai ma nga tangata c whaitake ana ki Pamutana Raki Rahui Maori. No. 54 (1918). —Petition of Hokianga County Council. Praying for legislation so that members of the Native race may be rated. I am directed to report that, this Committee recommends that no legislation relating to Native rating be proceeded with this session, and further recommends that all petitions and legislation dealing with rating of Native lands be referred to the Native Affairs Committee for consideration and report. 9th December, 1918. Special Report. The Native Affairs Committee has the honour to report that at the final meeting of the Committee, held on Monday, the 9th day of December, the following resolution was unanimously carried : — "That the Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the ability, tact, and courtesy displayed by the Chairman, Mr. J. A. Young, at the meetings of the Committee; and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House." 9th December, 1918. [Translation.] Ripoata Motuhake.
