Vestland Acres. £ 83,757 27,628 About 26,757 acres second-class land ; fair land, carrying sawmilling timber, part of whioh is being worked by sawmillers. 57,000 acres of third-class land: 25,000 acres swampy land, difficult of drainage and of poor quality ; 5,000 acres auriferous land, part of which is being worked, and of which part has been worked by miners; 27,000 acres spurs and sidelings carrying timber, not accessible to sawmillers, generally of poor quality. The 66,000 acres is situated in the Catlin's district, and consists of rough, broken, bush land, the soil generally being light and poor. About 20,000 aores first-class land, chiefly bush-clad, undulating; soil, fair to good and well watered; suitable for cultivation when cleared of timber. 356,555 acres seoond-class land, chiefly bush-clad ; 65 per cent, undulating, 35 per cent, broken and steep ; soil, 35 per cent, poor, 65 per cent, fair; all well watered; small portion suitable for cultivation, mostly pastoral.
