expenditure, I propose to set them out more fully than heretofore. Details are shown in table below : —
Compared with 1908-9. Revenue, 1908-9.. .. .. .. .. 9,001,185 Revenue, 1910-11 .. .. .. .. 10,297,023 Increase .. .. .. .. £1,295,838 EXPENDITURE. The estimated expenditure for the year was set down as £9,472,278, to which should be added an additional appropriation for railways, £233,755, making a total of £9,706,033. Of this amount £9,343,106 was spent, a saving of being effected. The permanent appropriations show a saving of £29,260, and the departmental expenditure is £333,667 less than the amount authorized, but of this amount Railways are credited with £192,496, being the balance unspent after the excess of revenue as allowed by law was added to the appropriation, so that if we eliminate Railways we have a direct saving for the year of £141,171 on our departmental votes. With the exception of the Legislative class, it will be seen by reference to the tables attached that every other class has been kept within the amounts voted by Parliament.
