Weraroa and Kimbolton. —Offices are being built. Te Aro and Wellington South. —Repairs and renovations done. Miscellaneous. Government House, Wellington , was altered for the temporary purposes of a Parliament Building, and it footbridge built over Sydney Street to connect it with the Parliamentary Library. Parliament Buildings. —Burnt by fire on the 11th December, 1907; as a consequence the contract for an additional wing in Sydney Street was suspended, and ultimately cancelled. Seddon Memorial. —Contract let for its erection over the grave. Temporary Residence for His Excellency the Governor at Mr. Strang's Residence, Palmerston North. —Alterations and additions made. Public Trust Buildings, Ijimbton Quay, Wellington. —ln progress. This structure is being built of brick and stone reinforced with a steel frame. It will take fully six months to complete. New Volunteer Drill Hall, Buckle Street, with orderly and lecture rooms, erected in brick complete. The rebuilding of the Drill Hall for Permanent Forces, adjoining Volunteer Hall in Buckle Street, has been carried out in brick. Wellington. —A laboratory has been built for the Agricultural Department in Sydney Street. Timber-specimens prepared for Industries and Commerce Department. Drill-yard, Buckle Street: electric light installed. Somes Island Quarantine Station. —Repairs, renovating, arid painting to buildings carried out; concrete water-tanks constructed; oil-engine and pump provided; wharf extended; dogkennels constructed, ifec. Hospitals. Mount View Mental Hospital. —Steam cooking-pans repaired; small engine from Porirua erected to cut chaff, mangle, &c. ; lavatory, latrine, and female airing-court erected; new- coalshed built; hydro.extractor installed, and suitable engine purchased to run it; repairs and general work attended to; contract for 300 bedsteads arranged. Porirua Mental Hospital.-— Very little has been done here this year. St. Helens Maternity Hospital. —A site has been surveyed in the Mount View grounds for this. Marlborough District. Departmental Buildings. Blenheim. —Repairs and renovations have been completed. Seddon. —Cottage has been built for Inspector of the Agricultural Department. Post-Offices. Havelock. —Residence built. Renwicktown. —Painted and repaired. Blenheim. —Painting and repairs done. Police-station. Seddon. —Lock-up built. Nelson District. Departmental Buildings, Nelson. —Renovating, repairs, office fittings, and extra accommodation arranged. New Post and Telegraph Office, Nelson. —Yard asphalted, store-shed built, fittings made, &c. Old Post-office, Nelson, was altered to provide offices for five Departments. Post-office, Takaka. —Repairs and renovations done. Post-offices, Richmond and Wakefield. —Sites have been secured at both places to erect buildings on. Mental Hospital, Nelson. —Repairs, painting, and asphalting have been carried out. I'ol ice-station, Nelson. —Bath and heating apparatus provided. Police-station, Port. —Outhouse enlarged. Police Station, Collingwood. —A new building has been erected, and old cottage made suitable for a clerk. Customhouse, Nelson. —A new brick building is being erected for this office. Christchurch. —Lavatory arrangements improved for Survey Department; milk-testing laboratory fitted up ; additional fittings made for Lands and Deeds office ; office fitted up for Inspector of Scenic Reserves. An office in Maling's Buildings, Government Insurance property, has been fitted up for Female Servants' Registry Office. New office leased in Armagh Street for Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. Offices for Land A 7 aluation Department and Government Auditors have been fitted up with requirements.
