Lyttelton. —All buildings painted, sergeant's residence renovated, outhouses erected. Addington. —Two-cell lock-up built. Little River. —Buildings and fences painted; stables, &c, repaired. Akaroa. —Footpaths, &c, repaired. Sheffield. —Additional rooms added; buildings painted, renovated, &c. Southbridge. —Buildings repaired and renovated; outbuildings erected. Methven. —Additions to residence made; new outbuildings erected; painting and renovating done. Temuka. —General repairs done. Timaru. —The new police-cell building is completed; footpaths asphalted, and other repairs done. St. Andrew's. —Contract has been let for additions, renovations, and fencing. Waimate.- —Constable's residence erected, with outbuildings complete. Post-offices. Kaikoura. —Office repaired, painted, and renovated; also residence and scullery-porch enlarged. Kaiapoi. —Artesian well sunk and water-supply arranged. Exterior of buildings painted, and interior renovated. Cheviot. —Additions and repairs are being arranged. Papanui. —Repaired, painted, and renovated. Windmill and pump erected. Christchurch. — Hot-water-heating fittings completed; general repairs and improvements made; fittings provided. New parcels-delivery office opened in Nottingham's Buildings, Hereford Street. Woolston. —A contract has been let for the erection of an office here. Akaroa. —lnternal repairs done; exterior of main building and outbuildings repainted. Rakaia. —Temporary Post-office opened in the Oddfellows' Hall. Ashburton. —Some alterations in the offices upstairs have been made. Geraldine. —The erection of a brick Post-office and outbuildings is Hearing completion. Timaru. —Additional room to caretaker's quarters erected. Office inside renovated; fittings rearranged. Room arranged for Minister's use. Fairlie. —A contract has been let for the erection of a Post-office. Hospitals. Sunnyside Mental Hospital. —An engine-room and workshops have been erected. A general bathroom is now in hand, also a dairy. A 4 in. artesian well was sunk 502 ft., a in. pipe sunk another 140 ft. below it, inside the former, and a flow of 36 gallons a minute obtained. This not being sufficient, another 6 in. pipe will be sunk. The closets in female block have been renewed; an 8-horse-power engine installed to drive laundry machinery; gas laid on to engine-room; walls of milking-shed rebuilt in brick ; arc lamps fixed to light drive. After the fire in kitchen block all dangerous portions of roof were removed, openings blocked up, new doors provided and put in, and temporary gas and water supply fitted up. Sydenham. — St. Helens Hospital. — Back path asphalted; vacant ground cultivated and planted with trees. Industrial Schools. Bur wood. — Te Oranga Home. —Kitchen and staff sitting-room rearranged ; double cookingrange supplied; Daisy boiler fixed to supply bathroomj repairs, painting, &c, attended to. Sumner. — Deaf-mute Institute. —Gardeners' quarters were erected, water-tanks fixed, showerbaths provided, grounds done up, kitphen painted, class-room divided. Miscellaneous. Quail Island Quarantine Station. — Caretaker's Cottage. —Alterations, additions, renovations made inside; painted outside.
