No. 272.—Petition of Geobqe Kieby, Burlington Street, Sydenham, Christchurch. Petitioner prays for relief on account of his services in the Railway Department. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration 13th September, 1907.

No. 540.—Petition of James Deuohrass, Dunedin. Petitioner prays for a compassionate allowance for injuries received through being thrown from a railway-carriage while travelling by express train from. Dunedin to Christchurch. I am directed to report that, it having been reported to the Committee that a settlement has been made in connection with this petition, the Committee has no recommendation to make. Bth October, 1907.

No. 615.—Petition of Percival G. Lee, Green Lane, Auckland. Petitioner prays that Green Lane, on the Auckland-Penrose line, be made a station instead of a flag station, and also a post and telegraph office. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. Bth October, 1907.

No. 667.—Petition of John Scott. Petitioner prays for compensation for loss sustained through injury received while in the railway service. I am directed to report that this Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. Bth October, 1907.

No. 692.—Petition of John D. Cooper, Christchurch. Petitioner prays for further compensation on account of injury caused by a railway accident at Kaitoke on the 30th December, 1904. I am directed to report that this Committee has no recommendation to make. 18th October, 1907.

No. 417.—Petition of C. R. Price and 174 Others, Christchurch. Petitionees pray that something be devised to abate the smoke nuisance from railway-engines near C'arlyle and Madras Street bridges. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. Bth November, 1907.

No. 830.—Petition of James Jackson, St. Kilda. Petitioner prays for further compensation in respect of injuries received while in Government employ. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 14th November, 1907.

Nos. 378 and 662 (1906). —Petitions of J. E. Bone and A. S. Allan. Petitionees pray that the Otago Harbour Board be paid full compensation in connection with the taking of lands for railway purposes. I am directed to report that, in compliance with a request made on behalf of the petitioners, further consideration of the petitions be held over until next session. 15th November, 1907.
