Timaru Racecourse, Canterbury Land District. Reserve No. 251, Timaru District. Area, 197 acres. Improvements now on reserve: Grandstand; secretary's office; stewards', jockeys' and Press rooms; totalisator-house; caretaker's house; loose-boxes; training-tracks, &c. A belt of Pinus insignis has been planted round the reserve, and the tracks are enclosed with sawn railings. It is proposed to build eight or ten new loose-boxes, enlarge jockeys' room, stewards' room, and weighing-room, increase the size of the saddling-paddook, and rebuild the judge's box and fit it with the latest improvements. Waiuku Recreation Reserve, Auckland Lajstd District. Sections Nos. 161, 162, 163, and 164, Parish of Waiuku East. Area, 78 acres 1 rood 16 perches. Improvements now on reserve: Racecourse (J chain wide), culverts, entrance-gate, plantation of native and ornamental trees. The whole area is fenced with a top-rail post-and-wire fence. The area inside the racing-track has been ploughed, harrowed, levelled, and grassed, and is used as a parade-ground by the Waiuku Mounted Rifles. Wanganui Racecourse, Wellington Land District. Part of Town Belt of Wanganui. Area, 61 acres and 28 perches. Improvements effected : Racing-tracks, caretaker's cottage, secretary's office, and stabling conveniences. The Wanganui Jockey Club holds the adjoining land, on which grandstands and buildings have been erected, making the racecourse one of the most up to date in the colony. Wyndham Racecourse, Southland Land District. Section 61, Town of Wyndham. Area, 153 acres. Improvements now on reserve: All laid down in grass. Ten acres plantations, belts of ornamental trees, cricket-ground, one-mile racing-track, grandstand, saddling-paddock, <fee, all in good order. During the year a fence and gate were erected, noxious weeds eradicated, hedges trimmed, plantations thinned, and walks gravelled. It is proposed to further beautify the area by planting ornamental trees, renewing grass, and erecting fences. The reserve is used for races, football, cricket, sports, and general recreation.
