No. 61, 1905. —Petition of Haimona Wetini and 150 Others. Petitioners pray that their lands on the eastern side of the Tarawera River may be restored to them. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 16th August, 1905.

No. 233, 1905.—Petition of Wiremu Peta and 190 Others. Petitioners pray that duty may be imposed on mutton-birds imported from Tasmania. I am directed to report that, as this is a matter of policy, the Committee expresses no opinion, but recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 16th August, 1905.

No. 230, 1905.—Petition of Peka Kerekere and 23 others. Petitioners protest against the taking of the Waihirere Blocks under the Scenery Preservation Act and pray for restitution. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 16th August, 1905. " —

No. 155, 1905. —Petition of Haora Tarebanui and Others. Petitioners allege that when the Moehau Block was ceded to the Crown it was agreed that they should have a reserve of 1,856 acres set aside for them; they now find that this reserve (Moehau No, l<s, or Waiaro) contains 500 acres short of the area agreed upon ; they pray for restitution. I am directed to report that the Committee, in addition to its report of 1901 on a similar petition (see L-3, 1901, page 11), recommends that the Government should make immediate inquiry into this case. 22nd August, 1905, 2—l. 3,
