No. 152.— Petition of Hon. H. K. Taiaroa. Petitionee prays that legislation may be passed to relieve him and other Native owners of land from the disabilities caused through the passing of "The Westland and Nelson Native Eeserves Act, 1887," and that he may be reimbursed the expenses and losses incurred through the same cause. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that the prayer of the petitioner should be favourably considered by the Government, and that legislation should be introduced this session to give the relief prayed for. 14th August, 1895.

No. 460, 1894.—Petition of Wieemu Eo Paipai. Petitionee prays that he may be put into possession of certain land at Portobello, Otago, which was reserved for his mother. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that the Government should take the prayer of petitioner into consideration when the claims of the landless Natives of the South are being adjusted. 14th August, 1895.

No. 59. —Petition of Hoani Weteee Tahea. Petitioner alleges that the lands of his ancestors —viz., Pohoraerae, near Christchurch, were wrongfully taken, and that he is left with insufficient means of support. He prays for relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that the Government should take petitioner's case into consideration when providing for other landless Natives of the South. 20th August, 1895.

I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that these petitions be referred to the Government for consideration with that of H. T. Mahupuku, reported on on the 31st July last. 20th August, 1895.

No. 452, 1894.—Petition of Waata Wiremu Hipango Petitioner prays that certain promises to reserve land in the Eangitikei District as reward to the family of his father, who was killed whilst resisting the attack of the Hauhaus on the European settlers in the Wanganui District in 1865, may be carried into effect. 2—l. 3.
